To say that experts generally don't agree about whether cellphone radiation can fry your brain is an understatement of massive proportions, but amazingly enough, the World Health Organization has come to a pseudo-conclusion. A group of 31 scientists from 14 countries working in the org's International Agency for Research on Cancer says that -- based on a survey of the literature -- those electromagnetic fields are as likely to be potentially carcinogenic as 266 other worrisome substances, including DDT pesticide and the exhaust from your automobile. Mind you, the WHO isn't saying that cellphones cause cancer, as today's decision is merely the latest call for more research, but the fact that respected scientists even claim that a correlation should be considered will probably be enough to stir the pot.Continue reading Cellphones are dangerous/not dangerous: the WHO changes its mind

The rumors are true, folks. While your phone likely is still languishing with Froyo (hey, could be worse), the Motorola Droid Pro (read our full review) is getting its Gingerbread update. And why shouldn't it? We found the Droid Pro to be a more-than capable (if a little small) 3.1-inch Android smartphone, with the front-facing QWERTY keyboard that so many of us had been wanting.
Anyhoo, back to the update. Looks like it's Android 2.3.3 (Build number 4.5.1-110-VNS-11, if you're into that sort of thing). You'll have the updated version of Motorola's Blur skin (which isn't the worst thing in the world), as well as all the tweaks that Gingerbread can muster.
Thanks, Eric!

IAC-owned Match.com has set its sights on Europe's largest dating site, Meetic.com. Match Match.com has put in a public tender offer to acquire all of the outstanding shares of Meetic for ?15.00 per outstanding share in cash (that's $21.42 in U.S. dollars). That's a 11.6 percent increase in value from the closing price of Meetic shares on May 27, 2011 (?13.44) and values the company at nearly $500 million. Match.com actually already owns approximately 27% of the outstanding shares of Meetic, which it obtained when it combined its European businesses with Meetic in 2009. Back then, IAC sold 100 percent of the stock of Match Europe ? the entity that houses Match.com?s European operations ? for an approximate 27 percent stake in Meetic, plus a 5 million euro note.
